Moroccan fighter Yussef Zalal will headline a UFC event for the first time this weekend at age 29. After debuting in the UFC in 2020 with three wins, Zalal suffered three losses and one draw before leaving for the American promotion Sparta, where he scored three first-round finishes. He returned to the UFC in 2024 and secured three submission victories before earning ranked opposition. Zalal defeated Calvin Kattar by decision and then submitted Josh Emmett in the first round. Currently ranked seventh at featherweight, Zalal sits directly behind Jean Silva and could enter the top five with a victory over Aljamain Sterling.
