Youssef Zalal will headline a UFC event for the first time this weekend. The Moroccan fighter debuted in the UFC in 2020, winning his first three fights before suffering three losses and one draw. After leaving for the American promotion Sparta, where he secured three first-round finishes, Zalal returned to the UFC in 2024. He has since earned three submission victories and defeated ranked opponents Calvin Kattar by decision and Josh Emmett by first-round armbar. Currently ranked number 7 at featherweight, positioned directly behind Gene Silva, a victory over Sterling would move him into the top 5. Zalal is 29 years old.
