Moroccan fighter Youssef Zalal will headline a UFC event for the first time in his career this weekend, marking a significant career milestone. The 29-year-old debuted in the UFC in 2020 with three consecutive wins but then suffered three losses and one draw before leaving for the American promotion Sparta, where he secured three first-round finishes. Zalal returned to the UFC in 2024 and has since earned three submission victories, including a decision win over ranked opponent Calvin Kattar and a first-round arm-bar finish of Josh Emmett. He currently sits at number 7 in the featherweight rankings, directly behind Giga Chikadze, and a victory over Aljamain Sterling would propel him into the top five of the division.
