Rose Namajunas has undergone eye surgery and received medical clearance to resume training, three months after suffering an eye injury in her bout with Natalia Silva at UFC 324. The former UFC strawweight champion (14-8, 12-7 UFC) sustained the injury from an eye poke during the January fight. Namajunas posted an update on social media calling for stricter penalties for eye pokes, proposing automatic point deductions even for accidental infractions. She stated that such injuries can have serious long-term health consequences for fighters. Namajunas acknowledged she is currently out of shape but is grateful the injury was not more severe.
