Fight manager Azamat Bostanov shared detailed memories of Khabib Nurmagomedov's UFC 223 championship victory in Brooklyn eight years ago. Bostanov recounted how Ali Abdelaziz initially told him to stay away from their team after he interviewed Artem Lobov following the famous bus incident, but Nurmagomedov intervened saying Bostanov was their guy just doing his job. He described how 20-30 Dagestanis gathered at the hotel ready to protect Nurmagomedov from potential provocations by Conor McGregor's team. Bostanov recalled that Zabit Magomedsharipov broke two fingers during his warmup but didn't tell anyone to avoid being pulled from the card, then still fought and won. After the event, Nurmagomedov's hotel floor was packed with people, many of whom he didn't know, but he patiently took photos, accepted video calls, and thanked everyone for their support despite being exhausted. Bostanov emphasized that Nurmagomedov remained humble and friendly in subsequent encounters, even once stopping his vehicle to offer Bostanov a ride after recognizing him on the street.
