Islam Makhachev has again drawn attention to what he calls the "chaotic construction" problem in Dagestan, particularly in Makhachkala. Seventeen days ago, during flooding in Dagestan, Makhachev appealed to regional leadership to address the construction issue, stating that Makhachkala has turned into one chaotic construction site. Today he reposted geographer Dmitry Koryukhin, a school teacher in Dagestan and 2025 Teacher of the Year, who shared aerial photos of Makhachkala showing what he describes as an urban catastrophe. The post criticizes low-quality housing developments, illegal construction, and the building of massive apartment complexes (30 floors, 1000 apartments) despite stagnant or declining populations in many Russian cities. Makhachev is praised for highlighting this regional infrastructure and urban planning crisis.
