UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev has again drawn attention to what he calls chaotic construction issues in Dagestan, particularly in Makhachkala. Seventeen days ago, during flooding in the region, Makhachev called on regional leadership to address the construction situation, stating that Makhachkala has become one massive disorganized construction site. Recently, he reposted content from geographer Dmitry Koryukhin, a teacher in Dagestan, who shared aerial photographs showing the urban development crisis. The post highlighted problems including low-quality residential complexes built too close together and numerous unauthorized construction projects. Makhachev's repeated focus on this issue demonstrates his concern for infrastructure and development problems in his home region beyond his fighting career.
