Vadim Nemkov disclosed he suffered kidney problems in 2022 that severely impacted his cardio, causing him to fade after one round in sparring and in his first fight against Corey Anderson. He was unable to understand why he ran out of energy despite performing well in other training like strength work and runs. After the Anderson loss, while training in Thailand for the rematch, doctors identified the kidney issue and prescribed a legal pharmaceutical solution that resolved the problem. Nemkov has since eliminated all sports supplements including creatine, protein, and BCAAs from his diet to reduce kidney stress, relying only on vitamins like omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and B vitamins. He reported no performance decline after dropping supplements, emphasizing proper nutrition and sleep as keys to recovery.
