Vadim Nemkov disclosed that kidney issues severely impacted his performance in his first bout against Corey Anderson in spring 2022, causing him to run out of energy after the first round. He experienced similar cardio problems in training, lasting only one round in sparring sessions despite feeling normal during other activities like running and weightlifting. After seeking medical help and undergoing tests in Thailand before the rematch, doctors identified the cause and found an approved pharmaceutical treatment that resolved the issue. Nemkov has since eliminated all sports supplements from his regimen, including creatine, protein, and BCAAs, due to the strain they place on his kidneys, now only taking vitamins like omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and vitamin B. He reports not feeling worse without the supplements as long as his nutrition, sleep, and vitamin intake are properly managed.
