Vadim Nemkov has disclosed that kidney problems severely impacted his performance in his first fight against Corey Anderson in spring 2022. Nemkov explained that he was experiencing extreme fatigue during training, running out of energy after just one round in sparring sessions leading up to the fight. Despite feeling strong in other training like CrossFit and weightlifting, he would completely exhaust during sparring. Medical tests revealed kidney issues related to severe weight cuts, which were affecting his stamina. During the Anderson fight, Nemkov won the first round but felt his energy completely drain in the second round, leaving him unable to execute techniques he knew he should be able to perform. He eventually found an over-the-counter medication that resolved the problem before their November rematch. Nemkov has since eliminated all sports supplements from his diet, including creatine, protein, and BCAAs, now only taking basic vitamins, and reports feeling no worse without the supplements.
