Vadim Nemkov disclosed that kidney problems in 2022 severely impacted his performance against Corey Anderson, causing him to run out of energy after just one round. During training camps, he would fatigue quickly in sparring despite feeling fine during other activities like CrossFit and weightlifting. After the first Anderson fight, he traveled to Thailand for a training camp where the same issues persisted until doctors identified the problem and found an appropriate pharmaceutical treatment. Nemkov has since eliminated all sports supplements including creatine, protein, and BCAAs from his regimen due to the strain they place on his kidneys, keeping only basic vitamins like omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and B vitamins. He attributes his kidney issues to the stress of large weight cuts throughout his career. Nemkov stated he doesn't feel worse without the supplements as long as he maintains proper nutrition and sleep.
