Islam Makhachev highlights chaotic construction problems in Dagestan

Islam Makhachev has once again drawn attention to what he calls the "chaotic construction" problem in Dagestan, particularly in Makhachkala. Seventeen days ago, as flooding ravaged Dagestan, Makhachev appealed to regional leadership to address construction issues, stating that "Makhachkala has turned into one chaotic construction site." Today he reposted content from geographer Dmitry Koryukhin, a teacher in Dagestan, who shared aerial photographs of Makhachkala revealing urban planning disasters including low-quality residential complexes built tightly together and numerous unauthorized structures. The post notes this reflects a broader Russian problem of massive multi-story housing construction even in cities with declining or stagnant populations, resulting in half-empty buildings. Makhachev is being praised for using his platform to highlight this regional issue.
