A bout between Diego Lopes and Charles Oliveira is being developed for UFC 335, scheduled for December 12. The matchup has not yet been officially confirmed by the promotion.

Charles Oliveira has no fight booked and has not yet begun negotiations with the UFC, according to his manager and head coach Diego Lima. The BMF titleholder recently returned to training following the death of teammate Allan Nascimento and is targeting a return before the end of 2026, likely on a November or December numbered event. Oliveira's preferred next fight is a rematch with lightweight champion Justin Gaethje, though Lima also identified Arman Tsarukyan and Diego Lopes as strong potential opponents if a title shot is not immediately available.

Charles Oliveira has issued a formal callout to Justin Gaethje for a rematch, offering to fight anywhere in the world — Las Vegas, Japan, or Gaethje's own backyard. Oliveira says all he needs is a call with a date and time, and argues there is no better story for the UFC to tell. With Gaethje holding the BMF title, the lightweight title, and a White House tournament belt, Oliveira says he is happy to put all three on the line.

Islam Makhachev told Daniel Cormier that Ian Garry can no longer be considered Irish, arguing that Garry speaks Portuguese, trains in Brazil, and has his family based there. Makhachev said the upcoming bout should be framed as Russia vs. Brazil — just like his fight with Charles Oliveira — rather than Russia vs. Ireland. He also quipped that if Garry taps out quickly, at least he won't have to break his arm or his neck, adding that the young welterweight can go on to become champion after Makhachev eventually retires.

The UFC honored Allan Nascimento during Fight Night 284 following the flyweight's death at age 34 from an apparent heart attack in his sleep. Nascimento was a longtime member of Brazil's Chute Boxe Academy and a close friend and training partner of Charles Oliveira, Elves Brener, and other UFC fighters, leaving behind a wife and two children. His most recent outing was a split decision loss to Mitch Raposo in June, which snapped a four-fight winning streak that included two performance bonuses.

Arman Tsarukyan will now face Mauricio Ruffy in the main event of UFC 331 on September 19 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, streaming on Paramount+. Charles Oliveira had been expected to oppose Tsarukyan at the event, but withdrew following the death of his longtime teammate, UFC flyweight Allan Nascimento. Tsarukyan enters as a heavy -400 favourite, while Ruffy — riding back-to-back TKO wins over Rafael Fiziev and Michael Chandler — is a +300 underdog.
