Vadim Nemkov disclosed that kidney problems in 2022 severely affected his cardio during his first fight with Corey Anderson and in training camps. Nemkov experienced mysterious endurance issues where he would perform well in the first round but completely run out of gas by the second round in both sparring and competition. After extensive medical consultations, doctors discovered the kidney issues were related to severe weight cuts, and found an appropriate legal medication that resolved the problem. As a result of this health scare, Nemkov completely eliminated sports supplements including creatine, protein, and BCAAs from his regimen, as they place additional strain on the kidneys. He now only takes vitamins including omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and B vitamins, and reports feeling no worse without the supplements as long as his diet, sleep, and vitamin intake are properly managed.
