Vadim Nemkov disclosed that he suffered from kidney problems in 2022 that severely impacted his cardio during training and his first fight with Corey Anderson. He would feel fine in the first round of sparring but completely gas out in the second round, unable to continue effectively into the third. After struggling to identify the issue through initial medical consultations and blood tests, Nemkov traveled to Thailand for a training camp in August before his November rematch. Doctors there finally identified the kidney problem and prescribed a permitted pharmaceutical medication that resolved his health issues. Nemkov also revealed he completely eliminated all sports supplements from his diet, including creatine, protein, and BCAAs, as they put additional strain on his kidneys. He now only takes vitamins including omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and vitamin B, and has not noticed any performance decline since dropping supplements.
