Vadim Nemkov disclosed that kidney problems in 2022 caused severe cardio issues that affected his first fight with Corey Anderson. The former Bellator light heavyweight champion would tire after just one round in sparring, feeling as if his "gas tank ran empty" in the second round. After consulting with doctors and struggling through training camp in Thailand, medical professionals identified the kidney issue and prescribed a legal pharmaceutical medication that resolved the problem. Nemkov revealed he has completely eliminated sports supplements from his diet, including creatine, protein, and BCAAs, due to the strain they place on his kidneys from years of extreme weight cuts. He now only takes vitamins including omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and vitamin B. Nemkov stated he doesn't feel worse without supplements, emphasizing that proper nutrition, sleep, and vitamins are most important.
