Vadim Nemkov disclosed that kidney problems in 2022 caused him to rapidly fatigue during his first fight with Corey Anderson, where he felt his energy completely drain after the first round. Nemkov experienced similar issues in training, being unable to sustain performance beyond one round in sparring sessions despite feeling normal during other training activities. After extensive medical consultations and testing, doctors discovered the kidney issue was related to severe weight cuts. The problem was eventually resolved with a permitted pharmaceutical treatment he continues to use. As part of addressing the health issue, Nemkov completely eliminated all sports supplements including creatine, protein, and BCAAs from his regimen, keeping only vitamins like omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and vitamin B. He reported not feeling worse after removing supplements, emphasizing that proper nutrition and sleep are most important.
