He highlighted issues including poorly built residential complexes crammed together, numerous illegal self-builds, and low-quality developments. Seventeen days ago, during flooding in Dagestan, Makhachev appealed to regional leadership to address construction issues. Today he reposted content from geographer Dmitry Koryukhin, a school teacher in Dagestan and 2025 Teacher of the Year, who shared aerial photographs of Makhachkala demonstrating what he called an "urban catastrophe." Makhachev is being praised for using his platform to highlight these regional infrastructure problems.
