Vadim Nemkov has disclosed that kidney problems in 2022 severely impacted his performance, particularly in his first fight against Corey Anderson. The Russian fighter experienced rapid fatigue, lasting only one round in sparring sessions when he should have been able to go five rounds. After extensive medical consultation and testing, doctors identified kidney issues related to severe weight cuts as the root cause. Nemkov found an approved medication that resolved the problem and has since eliminated all sports supplements from his regimen, including creatine, protein, and BCAAs, as they place additional strain on the kidneys. He now only takes vitamins including omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and vitamin B, and reports feeling no worse without the supplements as long as his nutrition and sleep are optimized.
