Former Bellator champion Vadim Nemkov has disclosed that kidney problems were responsible for his poor cardio in his first fight against Corey Anderson in spring 2022. Nemkov explained that during training camp he could only complete one quality round of sparring before running out of energy, a pattern that continued into the actual fight where he won the first round but faded badly in the second. After extensive medical consultations, doctors identified kidney issues stemming from extreme weight cuts as the root cause. The problem was resolved with a permitted pharmaceutical intervention found during a training camp in Thailand before the November rematch. Nemkov has since eliminated all sports supplements including creatine, protein, and BCAAs from his regimen due to the strain they place on kidneys, now relying only on vitamins, omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and B vitamins.
