Vadim Nemkov experienced kidney problems in 2022 that caused him to tire rapidly during sparring and in his first fight against Corey Anderson. He would feel fine in the first round but would run out of energy in the second, a pattern that persisted in training and competition. After consulting with doctors and undergoing tests, the cause was identified and a suitable pharmaceutical medication was found that resolved the issue. Nemkov has since eliminated all sports supplements from his diet, including creatine, protein, and BCAAs, due to the strain they put on his kidneys. He now only takes vitamins such as omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and vitamin B, and reports feeling no worse without the supplements as long as his nutrition and sleep are in order.
