Vadim Nemkov disclosed that kidney problems in 2022 caused severe cardio issues that affected his first fight against Corey Anderson and his training. He would perform well in the first round of sparring but run out of energy completely by the second round, a pattern that persisted across wrestling and striking sessions. During the Anderson fight, Nemkov won the first round but had no gas in the second, unable to execute techniques despite understanding what needed to be done. After the loss, he traveled to Thailand for a training camp where the problems continued, eventually finding the cause and a legal pharmaceutical solution that resolved the issue. Nemkov has since eliminated all sports supplements from his diet, including creatine, protein, and BCAAs, due to the strain they place on kidneys, now only taking vitamins like omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and B vitamins.
