Former Bellator light heavyweight champion Vadim Nemkov has disclosed that kidney problems were the root cause of his cardio failures during his first fight with Corey Anderson in spring 2022 and throughout his training camp. Nemkov explained that he would perform well in the first round of sparring but completely run out of energy by the second round, a pattern that continued in various training activities. After consulting with doctors and undergoing tests, he traveled to Thailand for a training camp in August 2022 before the rematch, where the problem persisted until medical professionals identified the issue and prescribed a legal pharmaceutical solution that resolved his condition. As part of his recovery, Nemkov completely eliminated all sports supplements from his regimen, including creatine, protein, and BCAAs, due to the strain they place on kidneys. He now only takes vitamins like omega-3, fish oil, magnesium, and vitamin B, and reports feeling no worse without the supplements as long as his nutrition and sleep are properly managed.
