Islam Makhachev highlights construction problems in Dagestan amid flooding

UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev has once again drawn attention to what he describes as chaotic construction practices in Dagestan, particularly in Makhachev. Seventeen days ago, as severe flooding was affecting the region, Makhachev appealed to regional leadership to address construction issues, stating that Makhachkala has become "one chaotic construction site." He recently reposted content from geographer and teacher Dmitry Koryukhin, who shared aerial photographs of Makhachkala demonstrating what he characterized as an urban disaster. The post highlights widespread problems across Russia, including low-quality residential complexes built tightly together, numerous unauthorized constructions, and the paradox of massive 30-story developments with 1,000 apartments being built in cities with stagnant or declining populations. Many of these buildings stand partially empty despite years of continued construction. Makhachev is being praised for using his platform to highlight this regional issue.
