Information has resurfaced regarding a 2019 incident involving UFC newcomer and Olympic champion Gable Steveson. On June 15, 2019, Steveson and a teammate from the U.S. wrestling team were arrested on charges of group sexual assault. The alleged victim reported to a hospital and made accusations against both men. The charges were ultimately dropped due to a legal loophole that prevented the victim's testimony from being admitted because she had voluntarily consumed alcohol on the evening of the incident. There were no witnesses other than the victim and the two wrestlers, and their accounts contradicted each other. While there is no direct proof of guilt, the law was changed following this case so that victims' testimony is now considered regardless of circumstances. Steveson trains under Jon Jones and has set high goals for his UFC career.
