Azamat Bostanov, now a fighter manager, recounted his experience covering Khabib Nurmagomedov's UFC 223 championship victory in Brooklyn eight years ago. Despite manager Ali Abdelaziz initially telling Bostanov to stay away from the team after he interviewed Artem Lobov following the bus incident, Nurmagomedov welcomed him, saying he was just doing his job. Bostanov described a group of 20-30 Dagestanis gathering at the hotel to protect Nurmagomedov from potential provocations from Conor McGregor's team. He recalled Zabit Magomedsharipov fighting with two broken fingers that he concealed from the athletic commission to avoid being pulled from the card. After the event, Nurmagomedov's hotel floor was packed with well-wishers, yet the new champion took time to thank Bostanov, pose for photos with his belt, and speak with strangers via video call. Years later, Nurmagomedov recognized Bostanov on the street and offered him a ride, demonstrating his continued approachability despite his fame.
