Fight manager Azamat Bostanov shared memories from Khabib Nurmagomedov's lightweight title victory at UFC 223 in Brooklyn eight years ago. Bostanov recounted how manager Ali Abdelaziz initially told him not to approach their team after he had interviewed Artem Lobov following the infamous confrontation, but Khabib intervened saying he was just doing his job. He described 20-30 Dagestanis gathering at the hotel ready to defend Khabib from potential provocations by Conor McGregor's team. Bostanov remembered the crowded hotel floor after the fight where Khabib, despite being exhausted, took time to photograph with everyone and talk to strangers on video calls. He also revealed that Zabit Magomedsharipov fought on that card with two broken fingers that he kept secret from the athletic commission. Bostanov emphasized that Khabib remained approachable and kind even after becoming champion, once even stopping his vehicle to offer him a ride in Moscow a year after winning the title.
