Kaliningrad boxer Sergey Gorokhov and his team were attacked by a crowd in the ring in Turkey after Gorokhov scored a second-round knockout victory over local fighter Emirhan Kalkan. The incident occurred when Gorokhov celebrated enthusiastically, prompting a man in civilian clothes to confront him. After a member of Gorokhov's team pushed the man, a mob rushed the ring and assaulted Gorokhov and his cornermen. Two of Gorokhov's seconds were hospitalized. Following treatment, the team drove from Trabzon to Georgia, removing their Russian license plates for safety. They reached Georgia without further incident.
