Kaliningrad boxer Sergei Gorokhov and his team were attacked by a crowd in the ring in Turkey after Gorokhov knocked out local fighter Emirhan Kalkan in the second round. Gorokhov had dropped Kalkan in the first round before finishing him in the second. After the stoppage, Gorokhov celebrated enthusiastically, prompting a civilian associated with Kalkan to shout at him. When Gorokhov approached, the man pushed him, and Gorokhov's cornerman Ismail then pushed the man back. A mob immediately stormed the ring and attacked Gorokhov and his team. Two cornermen, including Ismail, were hospitalized. After treatment, the three immediately drove from Trabzon to Georgia, removing Russian license plates as a precaution. They safely reached Georgia following the violent incident.
