Sergey Gorokhov, a boxer from Kaliningrad, and his team were attacked by a crowd in the ring in Turkey after he knocked out local fighter Emirhan Kalkan in the second round. The incident began when Gorokhov celebrated his victory and a man in civilian clothes who appeared connected to Kalkan shouted at him. Gorokhov approached without hostile intent but was pushed, then Gorokhov's cornerman Ismail pushed the man back, triggering a mass assault on Gorokhov and his team. Ismail and another cornerman were taken to hospital. After treatment, the three immediately drove from Trabzon to Georgia, removing Russian license plates as a precaution. They safely reached Georgia.
