Kaliningrad boxer Sergei Gorokhov (16-11-2 before the fight) and his team were attacked by a mob inside the ring in Turkey after he knocked out local boxer Emirhan Kalkan (7-0 before the fight) in the second round. Gorokhov had also scored a knockdown in the first round. Following the knockout victory, Gorokhov celebrated, which prompted a man in civilian clothes (apparently connected to Kalkan) to enter the ring and shout at him. When Gorokhov approached without malicious intent, the man pushed him, and then Gorokhov's cornerman Ismail pushed the man back. This triggered a mob of approximately 50 people to rush the ring and attack Gorokhov and his team. Ismail and another cornerman were taken to the hospital. After being discharged, the three immediately drove from Trabzon to Georgia, removing their Russian license plates as a precaution, and arrived safely. Gorokhov later stated that about 50 people were on top of him during the attack.
