British bantamweight Davey Grant has shared his current career perspective in a recent interview. Grant acknowledged that if he were to secure three quick knockouts in a row, he could potentially enter title contention. However, his primary focus is now on earning as much money as possible for his family before retiring. Despite this pragmatic approach, Grant has no immediate plans to retire and feels he is still improving. He stated he can compete with any bantamweight in the world and plans to continue fighting for at least another two years while he feels healthy and capable of improvement.

Veteran British bantamweight Davey Grant has opened up about where his career stands, revealing a clear-eyed focus on financial security for his family while insisting he still has years of competitive fighting ahead of him.

Grant, known as "Dangerous," carries an 18-8 record at 40 years old and continues to compete in one of the UFC's most talent-stacked divisions. The England native trains out of Syndicate MMA and brings a physically compact frame to the cage, standing five-foot-eight with a 69-inch reach. His output numbers reflect an aggressive approach, with 5.14 significant strikes landed per minute at 44 percent accuracy, and he supplements his striking with just over one takedown per 15 minutes of action.

In a recent interview, Grant acknowledged that three consecutive quick knockouts could theoretically put him within reach of title contention at 135 pounds. But he was candid that his primary motivation right now is maximizing earnings for his family before he eventually walks away from the sport.

That retirement, however, is not imminent. Grant said he feels he is still improving and believes he can compete with any bantamweight in the world. He plans to continue fighting for at least two more years, provided he remains healthy and continues to develop as a fighter.

Why it matters

  • Grant's longevity at 40 in a deep division makes his continued presence noteworthy for the UFC bantamweight landscape.
  • His willingness to call out any fighter in the division keeps him relevant as a gatekeeper-level opponent for rising contenders.
  • A run of finishes, as he outlined, could realistically move him back toward the fringes of the rankings picture.
