Manager Azamat Bostanov recalled his experience covering Khabib Nurmagomedov's UFC 223 title victory eight years ago in Brooklyn. However, Khabib intervened, putting his arm around Bostanov and telling Abdel-Aziz that he was "our guy" just doing his job. Bostanov also remembered 20-30 Dagestanis gathering at the hotel entrance when word spread that Conor McGregor's team might arrive. After winning the title, Khabib remained gracious despite exhaustion, taking photos with fans and speaking to their relatives via video call despite not knowing many people in his crowded hotel room.
