Azamat Bostanov, now a fighter manager, shared memories of Khabib Nurmagomedov's UFC 223 championship victory in Brooklyn eight years ago. Bostanov recalled how manager Ali Abdelaziz initially told him to stay away from the team after Bostanov interviewed Artem Lobov following the infamous confrontation, but Nurmagomedov intervened saying "This is our guy, he's just doing his work." After the victory over Al Iaquinta, Nurmagomedov made time for fans despite exhaustion, allowing Bostanov to photograph with the belt and speaking with numerous well-wishers in his hotel room. Bostanov noted that 20-30 Dagestanis gathered at the hotel ready to protect Nurmagomedov from potential provocations by Conor McGregor's team. He also revealed that Zabit broke two fingers during warmups but fought anyway to avoid medical suspension. Years later, Nurmagomedov remained approachable, once stopping his vehicle to greet Bostanov on a Moscow street.
