Quillan Salkilld reflects on sole career loss to opponent who retired after debut

Quillan Salkilld remains frustrated that Pablo Torrealba, who handed him his only career defeat, retired immediately after their fight. On February 13, 2021, Salkilld made his MMA debut against Torrealba, losing by rear-naked choke in the second round. Torrealba never fought again professionally and that bout remains his only pro appearance. Salkilld says he has tried to erase the loss from memory and notes a pattern of losing his first fight in every combat sports endeavor, calling it a curse that prevents him from being undefeated. According to reports, Torrealba now works as a coach at a gym.
