Khamzat Chimaev responded to Sean Strickland's threats about using a gun if they fight outside the cage, saying he does not believe Strickland truly wants a street fight. Chimaev pointed out that New Jersey has a large Muslim community and suggested Strickland would end up dead or many people would go to jail if he actually pulled a weapon. When asked about their past sparring sessions, Chimaev claimed Strickland had no success against him even when he was competing at 170 pounds. Chimaev stated he used to beat Strickland in training and that he has since grown much bigger and hungrier. He dismissed Strickland's provocations as circus entertainment, comparing him to a clown and noting that Strickland tells people privately he is just promoting the fight.
