Mike Tyson described the terrible food he was served during his three years in prison, saying it consisted almost entirely of sugar and processed foods. Speaking with Robert Kennedy Jr., Tyson explained that the Federal Prison System spends only 60 cents per day on feeding inmates, resulting in meals of donuts, chips, and sugary items with no healthy options. Tyson believes this ultra-processed diet makes prisoners more violent and aggressive, causing them to fight and harm each other over minor provocations. He credits his mentor Cus D'Amato with teaching him proper nutrition. Tyson now focuses heavily on his diet, primarily eating eggs for breakfast and seafood to maintain his physique, saying quality seafood is the best food for burning fat.
