Ian Garry's move to the top of the welterweight division puts him in prime position for a potential title shot, though no opponent or date has been announced.

Carlos Prates, nicknamed "The Nightmare," arrives at number two with a record of 24-7 and considerable physical tools backing his rise. The 32-year-old Brazilian out of Vale Top Team stands six-foot-one with a 78-inch reach and has posted a striking accuracy of 55 percent, among the better marks in the division. The switch-stance fighter has not recorded a submission attempt in his UFC tenure, signaling a commitment to stand-up combat.

Jack Della Maddalena, the 29-year-old Australian from Scrappy MMA, settles at fourth despite holding one of the more eye-catching output numbers at welterweight. The switch-stance 18-4 contender lands 5.57 significant strikes per minute at 51 percent accuracy, making him one of the busiest and most precise strikers in the 170-pound class. He also holds a spot at thirteenth in the pound-for-pound rankings.

In the lightweight division, Beneil Dariush finds himself at fourteenth after the reshuffle. The 37-year-old southpaw from Kings MMA carries a 23-8-1 record and brings a well-rounded game, averaging 2.11 takedowns per 15 minutes alongside a 49 percent striking accuracy.

Why it matters

  • Garry at number one makes him the clearest welterweight title contender in the UFC's own rankings
  • Prates jumping to second on the strength of his recent performances signals momentum for the Brazilian at 170 pounds
  • Della Maddalena's drop to fourth despite his elite striking output reflects how competitive the welterweight landscape has become
  • Dariush's continued slide down the lightweight rankings raises questions about his path back toward contention
