The UFC has released updated rankings following recent events. Ian Garry has moved to the top of the welterweight contender rankings at #1, while Carlos Prates has jumped to #2 in the division. Jack Della Maddalena has dropped to #4 at welterweight after his loss. In the lightweight division, Quillan Salcido has entered the top 15, while Beneil Dariush has fallen to #14. At heavyweight, Brendon Perovic has also broken into the top 15.
The UFC's latest rankings update has reshuffled the welterweight and lightweight divisions, with Ian Garry ascending to the number-one contender spot at 170 pounds and Carlos Prates climbing to number two in the same division. The update, reflecting results from recent events, also saw movement at heavyweight and lightweight.

At welterweight, Garry's rise to number one positions him as the next man in line for a title shot. Carlos Prates, known as "The Nightmare," has moved up to number two after a strong run of performances. The 32-year-old Brazilian, who trains out of Vale Top Team, carries a 24-7 record and stands six-foot-one with a 78-inch reach — one of the longer frames in the division. Prates lands significant strikes at a rate of 3.77 per minute and connects on 55 percent of his attempts, a notably high accuracy mark.
Jack Della Maddalena has slid to number four following a loss. The 29-year-old Australian out of Scrappy MMA owns an 18-4 record and remains one of the division's most prolific strikers, averaging 5.57 significant strikes per minute with 51 percent accuracy. Despite the setback, he holds the number-13 spot on the pound-for-pound rankings.

In the lightweight division, Quillan Salcido has broken into the top 15, while Beneil Dariush has dropped to number 14. The 37-year-old American southpaw, who trains at Kings MMA, holds a 23-8-1 record and brings well-rounded credentials to the division, averaging 2.11 takedowns per 15 minutes alongside 3.78 significant strikes per minute.
At heavyweight, Brendon Perovic has also entered the top 15 for the first time.

Why it matters
- Garry at number one makes him the leading welterweight title contender heading into the next booking cycle
- Prates at number two adds pressure to the top of a crowded 170-pound division
- Della Maddalena's drop to four is a temporary setback for a fighter still ranked inside the pound-for-pound top 15
- Perovic's heavyweight entry and Salcido's lightweight debut signal emerging threats in both divisions
