Sean Strickland has commented on Josh Emmett's public image, stating that while he knows Emmett personally and considers him a nice person and friend, he finds Emmett's content approach problematic. Strickland criticized Emmett for doing street interviews in his mid-30s, comparing it to behavior resembling a teenage Jake Paul from years ago. He suggested Emmett is trying to become a YouTube star and influencer at an age when such behavior seems forced. Strickland described the whole approach as a WWE-style sketch that feels completely contrived and suggested Emmett should just be himself and focus on training. However, Strickland acknowledged that whatever Emmett is doing appears to be working, as he's fighting at the White House event.
