UFC lightweight Mateusz Gamrot has stated that Poland is cleaner, safer, more hospitable, and in many ways more modern than the United States, based on his extensive travel and experiences living in both countries. Gamrot cited examples including Poland adopting portable payment terminals in restaurants a decade before the U.S., and contrasted what he sees as superficial American social interactions with genuine Polish hospitality. He recounted attending barbecues in the U.S. where he would have gone hungry without bringing his own food, unlike in Poland where guests are generously fed. Gamrot acknowledged that the U.S. offers advantages for sports careers but emphasized that quality of life is not necessarily better there. He noted his children prefer visiting their grandmother in Poland over Florida beaches, and that navigating daily life is easier at home where he knows shortcuts and systems.
