Carlos Prates has set multiple UFC records in his first eight fights in the promotion. He reached seven knockouts faster than anyone in UFC history, in just eight fights, surpassing heavyweights Junior Dos Santos and Cain Velasquez who needed nine. Prates also recorded 14 knockdowns in under 17 full rounds, the fastest in history and the highest average knockdown rate per 15 minutes. He also earned seven Performance of the Night bonuses faster than any fighter, needing only eight fights compared to the usual average of 15. The post notes Prates has finished two former UFC champions who were never knocked out before, and suggests that if Islam Makhachev defeats Justin Gaethje, Prates, and Shavkat Rakhmonov, he could surpass Jon Jones in legacy.
