Khamzat Chimaev addressed his media day remarks ahead of his bout with Sean Strickland, dismissing concerns about a post-fight handshake after Strickland declared they would "die as enemies." Chimaev explained that he posted old sparring footage to counter Strickland's claim that he only spars with weak partners, stating that when he began hitting harder, Strickland immediately went to the coach saying Chimaev was working too hard. He stated he is ready to fight every three months but has faced visa issues, and that his future weight class will depend on what the UFC pays him. Chimaev also expressed confidence that Arman Tsarukyan would defeat Strickland if Tsarukyan moved up to middleweight. Regarding his fight plan, Chimaev said he is not plotting a quick finish or prolonged punishment, but will simply go in to fight and see what happens.
