Lightweight contender Mateusz Gamrot offered his perspective on living in Poland versus the United States during a podcast appearance. He stated that Poland is cleaner, safer, more hospitable, and in many ways more modern than America, despite governmental issues. Gamrot cited examples including Poland's earlier adoption of portable payment terminals and what he perceives as superficial social interactions in the US. He recounted experiences at American barbecues where he had to bring his own food and noted that his children preferred returning to their grandmother in Poland despite being at a Florida beach. While acknowledging career advantages in the US for sports, Gamrot emphasized that quality of life isn't necessarily better in America and that everything is easier to handle at home in Poland.
