Polish UFC lightweight Mateusz Gamrot expressed strong views about Poland being cleaner, safer, more hospitable, and in many ways more modern than the United States. He cited examples such as portable payment terminals being commonplace in Poland ten years before arriving at American restaurants. Gamrot criticized American social interactions as superficial, describing the standard "How are you? Fine, bye" exchanges, and recounted an incident where someone was confused when he actually answered honestly about having problems. He also noted that Americans are not genuinely hospitable, claiming he was invited to barbecues twice and would have gone hungry if he hadn't brought his own food. While acknowledging the U.S. offers career advantages for sports, Gamrot emphasized that quality of life is not necessarily better there, sharing that his children preferred visiting their grandmother in Poland over being at the beach in Florida.
