Quick read

Tapology has introduced a new feature displaying an opposition level rating for UFC fighters, calculated on a scale from 1 to 99. The metric is based on a specific formula published on the website and considers only a fighter's last six UFC bouts, excluding fights in other organizations. For UFC 328, Sean Strickland has the highest rating at 74, followed by Khamzat Chimaev at 69 and Alexander Volkov at 67. The lowest-rated fighters on the card include Baysangur Susurkaev and Ozzy Diaz, both at 4, and Jorden Santos at 6. This tool appears designed to help fans assess the strength of schedule for UFC fighters.

Tapology has rolled out a new opposition level metric for UFC fighters ahead of UFC 328, offering fans a data-driven way to evaluate the strength of schedule each competitor has faced inside the Octagon.

The rating runs on a scale of one to 99, is calculated using a formula published on the Tapology website, and draws exclusively from a fighter's last six UFC bouts. Appearances in other promotions are not factored in. For UFC 328, the tool produces a clear spread between the card's most battle-tested veterans and its newer entrants.

Alexander Volkov
Alexander Volkov

Sean Strickland leads all fighters on the card with a rating of 74. The reigning middleweight champion from the United States carries a 31-7-0 record at 35 years old and fights out of Xtreme Couture. The six-foot-one, 185-centimeter orthodox striker lands 6.04 significant strikes per minute, one of the higher output figures in the division.

Alexander Volkov slots in third at 67. The Russian heavyweight, nicknamed Drago, holds a 40-11-0 record at 37 and is currently ranked number one in the heavyweight division. Standing six-foot-seven with an 80-inch reach, Volkov connects on 57 percent of his significant strikes, a notable accuracy mark for a fighter at that size.

Khamzat Chimaev sits between them at 69, placing second on the card by this measure.

Ozzy Diaz

At the other end of the spectrum, Baysangur Susurkaev and Ozzy Diaz both register a rating of just four, with Jorden Santos rated six. Those figures reflect limited UFC experience and, by extension, limited data on high-level opposition faced inside the promotion.

Why it matters

  • The metric gives fans a quick reference point for comparing competitive resumes within a single card
  • Restricting the window to the last six UFC bouts keeps the ratings current rather than rewarding distant past performances
  • A wide spread on a single card, from 74 down to four, illustrates how differently matched fighters can be in terms of recent opposition quality
