Jim Miller broke multiple UFC records at UFC 328, extending his mark for most fights in promotional history to 47 and most victories to 28. The 42-year-old veteran also moved closer to Charles Oliveira's record of 21 finishes, now holding 20 finishes himself after his guillotine submission of Jared Gordon. Miller has been competing professionally for 18 years. The finish further cements Miller's legacy as one of the most accomplished and durable fighters in UFC history.

Jim Miller rewrote the UFC record books once again at UFC 328 on May 9, 2026, extending his own marks for most appearances and most wins in promotional history while submitting Jared Gordon with a guillotine choke.

Charles Oliveira
Charles Oliveira

The 42-year-old southpaw from New Jersey now stands at 39 wins and 19 losses across a professional career spanning 18 years. His 47th UFC appearance leaves him unchallenged as the most active fighter in promotional history, and his 28th victory inside the octagon further separates him from the rest of the all-time wins list. The finish was also his 20th inside the distance, moving him within one of Charles Oliveira's promotional record of 21 finishes. Fighting out of Sussex County MMA, Miller stands five-foot-eight with a 71-inch reach and averages 1.7 submission attempts per 15 minutes, a number that helps explain the longevity of his grappling threat.

Gordon, who entered the bout at 21 wins and nine losses, came in as a credible opponent. The 37-year-old American, known as "Flash," fights out of Kill Cliff FC and is one of the more active strikers in the lightweight division, landing 5.64 significant strikes per minute at 53 percent accuracy. Despite that output, he could not avoid Miller's submission game.

Oliveira, the lightweight against whose finishing record Miller is now closing in, holds a 37-11-0 mark and sits ranked third in the division and 11th pound-for-pound. The Brazilian averages 2.6 submission attempts per 15 minutes and remains one of the most dangerous grapplers in the sport.

Why it matters

  • Miller's 47 UFC fights and 28 wins are standalone all-time records in the promotion
  • His 20 finishes leave him just one behind Oliveira's all-time UFC record of 21
  • The victory demonstrates that at 42, Miller remains a legitimate submission threat at lightweight
