Joshua Van successfully defended his UFC flyweight championship by stopping Tatsuro Taira via TKO in the fifth round of their co-main event bout at UFC 328. The victory marked Van's 10th win in the UFC and his second successful title defense at just 24 years old. Taira, despite securing eight successful takedowns during the fight, was unable to establish his signature back control position throughout the 20-minute contest. Van showed exceptional grappling defense and striking ability, never giving up his back despite scrambles, before ultimately securing the finish in the final round. The loss represents only the second defeat of Taira's professional career.
