Alexander Volkov won by unanimous decision against Waldo Cortes-Acosta with scores of 30-27, 29-28, and 29-28 at UFC 328. The New Jersey crowd booed after the fight, apparently appreciating Acosta's gestures calling for a brawl in the center. An analyst believed Volkov took the first two rounds but expected a more dominant performance comparable to his victory over Sergey Pavlovich two years ago. Volkov carried the Russian flag during his octagon interview and told the booing crowd it was an honor to fight on May 9th. He called out potential opponents saying "Aspinall, Gane, Pereira - it doesn't matter, give me a title fight!"
