Alexander Volkov won by unanimous decision over Waldo Cortes-Acosta with scorecards of 30-27, 29-28, and 29-28 at UFC 328. The crowd in New Jersey booed the decision, apparently favoring Acosta who had repeatedly gestured to the center of the octagon calling for an exchange. The author believed Volkov won the first two rounds and expected a more dominant performance similar to his victory over Sergey Pavlovich two years ago, rating Pavlovich higher than Acosta across all parameters. During the octagon interview, Volkov entered with a Russian flag and told the crowd it was an honor to fight on May 9th. Volkov then called for a title fight, declaring he's ready to face Tom Aspinall, Ciryl Gane, or Alex Pereira.
